Cannabigerol (CBG) is a minor cannabinoid often called the 'mother cannabinoid' because CBGA is the precursor from which other major cannabinoids are synthesized.
Cannabigerol (CBG) is a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid found in low concentrations in most cannabis strains. CBGA (cannabigerolic acid) is the biosynthetic precursor to THCA, CBDA, and CBCA in the cannabis plant. As the plant matures, most CBGA is converted to other cannabinoids, leaving only trace CBG in the final product. CBG has gained commercial interest as a potential therapeutic compound, with research investigating anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and neuroprotective properties. High-CBG cultivars are being developed through selective breeding for medical research and product formulation.
