Kief refers to the loose, powdery trichome crystals that separate from cannabis flower, high in cannabinoids and terpenes.
Kief (also spelled 'keef' or 'kif') is the term for the collected trichome heads that separate from cannabis flower through dry sifting or mechanical agitation. It appears as a fine, amber or yellowish powder and is significantly more potent than whole flower due to the concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes. Kief can be smoked alone, added to joints or bowls, pressed into hash, or used as a starting material for rosin production. Three-chamber herb grinders are designed with a kief catcher compartment that collects trichomes during grinding.
