Indica-Dominant

Category: Cultivation · Level: Beginner

Indica-dominant describes a hybrid cannabis cultivar where indica genetics predominate, typically associated with more physically relaxing effect profiles.

Indica-dominant is a commercial classification for hybrid cannabis cultivars in which the indica parent genetics represent the majority of the genetic composition, typically expressed as a percentage (e.g., 70% indica / 30% sativa). These cultivars often retain morphological characteristics associated with indica plants — shorter stature, faster flowering, broader leaves — while exhibiting hybrid vigor. In retail and medical markets, indica-dominant cultivars are commonly associated with evening or nighttime use due to reputations for relaxation and sedation, although as noted, cannabinoid and terpene profiles are more accurate predictors of effect than the indica/sativa classification.
