Wax

Category: Extraction & Processing · Level: Intermediate · Slang term

Wax is a cannabis concentrate with a soft, opaque consistency produced through butane hash oil extraction and whipping or agitation during the purging process.

Cannabis wax is a concentrate product characterized by a soft, crumbly, or sticky consistency with an opaque appearance. It is produced through butane hash oil (BHO) extraction and gains its texture through agitation or whipping during the purging process, which incorporates air and creates a different crystalline structure compared to shatter or oil. Wax includes product subtypes such as budder (creamy consistency), crumble (dry, honeycomb-like), and earwax (sticky). While less refined than distillate, high-quality wax retains significant terpene content. It is consumed primarily by dabbing.
