Shatter

Category: Extraction & Processing · Level: Intermediate

Shatter is a brittle, glass-like cannabis concentrate produced through BHO extraction, known for high cannabinoid purity and stable consistency.

Shatter is a butane hash oil (BHO) concentrate named for its brittle, glass-like consistency that can be broken or 'shattered.' It is produced through hydrocarbon extraction followed by careful purging (removing residual solvents) at low temperatures without agitation, which results in a translucent, stable product. Shatter typically contains very high cannabinoid concentrations (70–90%+) and lower terpene content compared to live resin. It is consumed primarily via dabbing. Although residual solvent testing standards exist in regulated markets, the production process requires professional-grade equipment and safety protocols due to the flammable nature of butane.
