Distillate

Category: Extraction & Processing · Level: Intermediate

Cannabis distillate is a highly refined extract produced through molecular distillation, typically containing 90%+ cannabinoid purity.

Distillate is a type of cannabis concentrate produced through short-path or wiped-film molecular distillation. The process separates cannabinoids from other compounds based on their boiling points, resulting in a highly purified product with cannabinoid concentrations typically above 90%. THC and CBD distillates are colorless to light amber oils used as the base for vape cartridges, edibles, tinctures, and topicals. Distillate lacks terpenes (which are removed during processing) and is often considered flavorless in pure form; terpenes may be reintroduced post-production. It is a foundational ingredient in many commercial cannabis product categories.
