Cannabis Compliance Software

Software tools designed to help cannabis businesses adhere to regulatory requirements.
Cannabis compliance software is the set of tools licensed cannabis businesses use to prove, every day, that they follow the rules of their market. Where cannabis is legal it is also among the most tightly controlled products sold: every plant, package and gram is tracked, every label checked and every sale reported. Doing that on spreadsheets is slow and error prone, so most operators run dedicated systems.
What it covers: seed to sale tracking that reports to government systems such as Metrc or BioTrack in the United States and Canada's Cannabis Tracking System; point of sale with purchase limits and age checks; inventory reconciliation and waste logs; label and packaging generation with the required warnings and test results; certificates of analysis linked to each batch; employee permits, training records and audit trails; and tax and excise reports. In Europe the same needs show up as GMP batch records, narcotics registers and pharmacy reporting under medical cannabis rules.
How to judge a system: the questions that matter are which jurisdictions and government APIs it supports, how it handles failed syncs and corrections, whether data can be exported, and how quickly rule changes reach the product. Many retailers use their point of sale for compliance, while cultivators and manufacturers often add an ERP or a quality management system. A gap between physical stock and reported stock is one of the most common causes of fines and license reviews, which is why reconciliation features count as much as reporting.
